State Parks
Alamo Lake State Park
This park consists of 5,642 acres at an elevation of 1300' near Wenden Arizona. The park features good fishing opportunities along with barrier free camping, boating, fishing and swimming. There are a variety of campgrounds and a fabulous view of the lake from the Bill Williams Overlook.
Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park
This small park of 420 acres is near Superior at an elevation of 2400'. The desert garden habitat was created from many drought resistant plants and features many unique varieties of plants. The garden is barrier free and has an interpretive program.
Buckskin Mountain State Park
Located 10 miles North of Parker at an elevation of 420'. The 1,676 acre park features barrier free campgrounds, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and also has an interpretive program. You will find sandy beaches and scenic bluffs overlooking the Colorado River.
Catalina State Park
You will find the park at the base of the Catalina Mountains, 9 miles North of Tucson. This park encompasses 5,511 acres and is known for it's camping, hiking, and horseback riding opportunities.
Cattail Cove State Park
980 acres at an elevation of 450', enjoy hiking and water sports along the Colorado River 15 miles South of Lake Havasu City. The park has barrier free camping, boat rentals, fishing, swimming, hiking, and a great interpretive program. You will find some remote, boat accessible camping spots and a very diverse topography.
Dead Horse Ranch State Park
This park along the Verde River near Cottonwood, is noted for it's many bird and plant species. You will find fishing on the Verde River and at the park lagoon. There is barrier free camping, fishing, hiking, and an interpretive program.
Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area
The park is at an elevation of 6,300 feet and offers primitive camping. Fishing in the deep, cool, Fool Hollow Lake from boat or the shore will be a good activity, however swimming is not on the list... perhaps this is how the park got it's name.
Fort Verde State Historic Park
Located near camp Verde, this was a major base for General George Crook's troops and pack mules during the Indian campaigns of the 1870's. Enjoy the interpretive tours of many historical buildings and exhibits.
Homolovi State Park
This 960 acre park near Winslow, offers barrier free access to ancient pueblo dwellings. There are exhibits, tours, and camping at the park which is at an elevation of 4,900'.
Jerome State Historic Park
This small 3 acre historic park is a great tour of the "Adobe Mansion" of former mining magnate, James S. "Rawhide" Douglas. Located in Jerome at an elevation of 5,000', the park offers magnificent vistas of the Verde Valley.
Kartchner Caverns State Park
This park located 10 miles Southwest of Benson at an elevation of 4,700' offers cave tours. You will see the Throne and Rotunda rooms and enjoy the Discovery center. Reservations are strongly recommended! (602-542-4174)
Lake Havasu State Park
Located on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu City and the historic London Bridge. At this huge park consisting of 10,859 acres, you will find Water sports, rental craft and a great nature trail. Camping, hiking, fishing, and boating are the main attraction.
Lost Dutchman State Park
Located near Apache Junction at the foot of the Superstition Mountains.
This is the locale of the legendary Lost Dutchman Mine. Literally thousands of prospectors and treasure hunters have explored the area and the Dutchman's mine is still waiting for that lucky and observant wanderer, it could be you!
Lyman Lake State Park
You will find the park 11 miles South of St. Johns at an elevation of 6,000'. This is a large reservoir near the Petrified Forest National Park. The visitor will find a variety of water sports and no restriction on the size or type of watercraft. Some remote campsites are available, along with barrier free access camping areas.
McFarland State Historic Park
This historic park located on 2 acres in Florence, is a replica courtroom with artifacts and exhibits surrounding the life of state politician Ernest W. McFarland.
Oracle State Park
A 4,000 acre environmental education park and approximately 15 miles of hiking trails.
Patagonia Lake State Park
The park is located 12 miles Northeast of Nogales at an elevation of 3,700'. This is a very popular park located in the Sonoita Valley hills. Year around activities include fishing for Bass, catfish, and stocked trout.
Picacho Peak State Park
Only 40 miles North of Tucson, this 3,400 acre park features the landmark Picacho Peak rising 1500' from the valley floor. The hiking is very challenging and is a wonderful place to see the desert bloom in the early spring.
Red Rock State Park
This is a day use only area, it is located along Oak Creek among the red cliffs of the valley. There is an environmental education center and is located near Sedona.
Riordan Mansion State Historic Park
This historic Mansion in Flagstaff is huge and was built in the early 1900's. The craftsmanship is fabulous and features the original furnishings.
Roper Lake State Park
Located at the base of Mt. Grahm near Safford. The park includes a man made lake with swimming beach, there is camping, boating, fishing, swimming, and hiking along with a wonderful interpretive program.
San Rafael Ranch State Park
Historic pre-territorial ranch house with surround-house porches, barns, and windmills. Scenic driving and picture taking of the Valley are all that is available now, but in the future, nature walks, an historic house tour, and other activities will be offered to the public on the southern portion of the property owned by Arizona State Parks.
Slide Rock State Park
The area encompasses an historic apple orchard in Oak Creek Canyon. This is a day use only area, featuring a natural water slide and canoeing. The park with it's nature trail is at an elevation of 4,930'.
Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park
This historic Victorian style building in Tombstone, houses exhibits and artifacts that tell of the town's colorful past. This is a day use only area and offers a picnic area.
Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
Located in Pine, at an elevation of 4,530', you will find the 183' high 400' long natural bridge that spans the canyon. You may visit the historic lodge and enjoy the nature trail, this too is a day use only area.
Tubac Presidio State Historic Park
Located 19 miles North of Nogales the historic Spanish fort ruins is the oldest European Settlement in the state. You will find many exhibits and historic buildings as you go along with the barrier free interpretive program.
Yuma Crossing State Historic Park
This was one of the few easily fordable crossings on the Colorado River and is recognized as a key location in the cultural development of the Southwest.
Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park
Located in Yuma, during the years 1876 - 1909 the facility housed over 3,000 prisoners. This is a barrier free access tour of the buildings and exhibits.
